Patterns of Flight Narrating Air Power and the American Empire

Take to the skies on Tuesday, March 5, as Phi Alpha Theta welcomes to the Rose Hill campus Jenifer Van Vleck of Yale University and Brendan Koerner of Wired Magazine. Their discussion, moderated by Christopher Dietrich, will take place from 1-2:15PM in the Flom Auditorium of Walsh Library.

Professor Dietrich writes

I will be moderating a discussion between Brendan Koerner, an editor at Wired, and Jenifer Van Vleck, a faculty member of the History Department at Yale.
Koerner is the author of The Skies Belong to Us, which is probably best-described as an international, interracial hijacking love story.  Van Vleck has just published her first book, Empire of the Air, with Harvard University Press.  It discusses the cultural, economic, and political pathways through which that aviation supported American ascendancy in the 20th century.
