Next week Alex Novikoff (Assistant Professor of History) will be presenting his work on medieval disputation at the upcoming conference in Madrid, Spain: Polemical Encounters: Polemics Between Christians, Jews, and Muslims in Iberia and Beyond.
The conference (Sept. 29-Oct 1, 2014) is being hosted by the Consejo Superior de Investigationes Científicas (CSIC), and is sponsored by an advanced grant from the European Research Council devoted to Conversion, Overlapping Religiosities, Polemics and Interaction (CORPI). All presenters were invited by the organizers of the conference: Mercedes García-Arenal (CSIC) and Gerard Wiegers (University of Amsterdam). The title of Dr. Novikoff’s presentation is “Performance and the Public Sphere: New Approaches to Polemical Disputations.”
